Matthew and Sarah met me at a park at the beginning of the pandemic and this was the first bridal consult I had held since the start of it. We talked wedding details and they told me that they were a little nervous about their photos because they considered themselves to be somewhat awkward. I assured them that I feel awkward sometimes too and that we would work together to help them feel natural and comfortable at their engagement session and on their wedding day. They were relieved and they booked their Wedding and Engagement session with me that week!
We had their Engagement session in the late fall of 2020. We chose a cute park in Chili near a pond and I taught them the easy four core poses that we would be working with on their Wedding day. After a little bit of time, they warmed up to the camera, just as I knew they would and we had a great rest of their session. I knew they would be ready for their big day!
I was so excited to have booked another wedding at Deerfield Country Club in Brockport, I LOVE visiting their beautiful venue and their staff are always so great to work with! My assistant photographer for the day, Dan, and I arrived at Deerfield and our first stop of the day was the ceremony location to capture the details before anyone arrived. We then made our way down to the bridal suites to see the Sarah and Matthew with their wedding party. After greeting the bride and groom, we made our way back upstairs with Sarah’s dress to get a gorgeous shot with the beautiful decor in Deerfields entryway. (This beautiful teal door with lots of branches and greenery surrounding it with fairy lights!)
Sarah and Matthew had requested a “first hand hold” before the start of their ceremony. Since I had done this with my own husband on our wedding day, I knew how much it would mean to them to have this moment. Before the ceremony we brought Sarah outside and led Matthew out blindfolded and guided them back to back. They connected their hands and had a few moments to reflect on this day. They wrote their own vows and wanted to read them to each other, what a moment to witness!!
Their ceremony started at 4:30 and Matthews face lit up watching Sarah walk down the aisle with her Father. They reached for each other’s hands and their ceremony was filled with beautiful poems and readings from their Brother in Law. They giggled as their had their first kiss and together walked down the aisle as Husband and Wife.
Since they have decided to have their big reception in November in hopes of allowing more festivities, we finished up family and bridal portraits and they waved goodbye as they left for a special dinner with family and friends. I can’t wait to celebrate with this family in November again!
Thank you for a first successful wedding of 2021! Congratulations Mr + Mrs Cleary!
