There’s something magical about surprise proposals, especially when they take place in a picturesque setting like Letchworth State Park in Castile, NY. Recently, I had the honor of capturing a truly heartwarming proposal that beautifully combined love, family, and nature.

The Story of Billy & Chelsey

Billy contacted me a week ago, sharing his excitement about proposing to his girlfriend, Chelsey. He had initially hired another photographer but due to unforeseen circumstances (COVID, to be exact), he found himself in need of a professional photographer at the last minute. Having seen my photos from a previous proposal, he reached out, and I was thrilled to step in and be a part of this special day.

The Perfect Surprise at Letchworth State Park

Letchworth State Park, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the East,” provided the perfect backdrop for this surprise proposal. With its stunning waterfalls, scenic views, and lush greenery, it’s a dream location for any photographer but even more so, a proposal!

On the big day, Chelsey, her daughter, and Billy arrived at the park. With a little bit of planning and some behind-the-scenes coordination, we managed to get them exactly where we wanted for the proposal. Billy got down on one knee, Chelsey was completely surprised, and her daughter was there to witness and celebrate this beautiful moment. The look of joy and love on Chelsey’s face was absolutely priceless.
