Charles reached out to me weeks before the proposal, excited, nervous, and ready to plan one of the biggest moments of his life. Together, we carefully mapped out the perfect surprise proposal at Letchworth State Park, choosing a stunning waterfall overlook that would create an unforgettable backdrop for the moment he asked Benjamine to marry him.

But this proposal came with a twist I have NEVER experienced before!

As Charles got down on one knee, Benjamine immediately reacted in the most incredible way… she pulled out HER OWN camera and started photographing HIM proposing! 📸😭 It was honestly one of the sweetest and most unique reactions I’ve ever witnessed during a surprise engagement proposal. Meanwhile, I was hidden nearby capturing every second of the moment unfolding naturally.

After taking a few photos herself, Benjamine finally put the camera down and fully soaked in the excitement, emotion, and joy of the proposal. Those authentic reactions are exactly why I love photographing surprise proposals at Letchworth State Park so much. Every couple is different, every story is unique, and every proposal becomes its own adventure.

And speaking of adventure… we had a tiny bit of unexpected excitement before the proposal even happened! Another photographer unknowingly began setting up gear directly in the proposal location just moments before Charles was about to pop the question. Thankfully, Charles smoothly redirected Benjamine for a moment while I quickly explained the situation. The photographer was incredibly kind and graciously let us use the location first. Crisis officially avoided! 😅🙌

Once the big “YES!” happened, we explored more of the park together and finished their engagement portraits at Archery Field, where the golden sunset light completely showed off for us. The warm glow, rolling scenery, and excitement between these two created absolute MAGIC.
